Here’s a little info on myself ’cause I’m kind of selfish! I had terrible issues with my computer, especially with the video card. In the end, I had to purchase a new one and format! Now with a fresh install (64-bit no less!) I am ready to go. Only issue is I have to finish school this week, but hopefully I’ll be free for a while.

On to the REAL news! Unfortunately this will be quite short, as I couldn’t get anybody to get back to me with a status in game our outside of the game, so bear with me.

From what I can gather, there are still a bunch of us on the Juyo Server, playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. Unfortunately this is all I know for the reason I highlighted above. Kain, Vichean and their friends are playing Battlefield 3 if you guys are interested in playing with them, however you might have timezone/ping issues, but surely you’ll work it out amongst yourselves.

In other news, some of us have been playing some Minecraft, provided you already purchased it. For more info, check out this thread out for the server info, but make sure you get in touch with Amobius so you can get privileges and a rundown of the rules/guidelines of the server.

In other news, I have been playing a lot of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer on the Xbox 360, so you’re welcome to give me a shout out, my gamertag is ‘DrSpacePenguin’. I look forward to seeing you there. I am not alone, our dear Koenwulf has been kicking some Cerberus/Geth/Reaper ass as well, so be sure to ask me for his gamertag if you can’t find it on the boards.

Before we move one, I would just like to ask you all to send me by PM any and all concerns and suggestions about those updates. I’m trying to keep ‘em rolling, I’m slowly getting better at them (in the sense that I don’t take a year to write a new one) but I would appreciate any and all help with them, to give you the best in Mongbat News.

And lastly, I would like to remind you all that you should play Saints Row: The Third, as it is one of the better games to come out in the past.. I don’t know, ten years? Seriously, you should check it out. It was dirt cheap on Steam for a weekend but this sale has since passed. Hopefully there will be a new one in the near future.

Hope y’all are doing great and having fun in your respective games and/or endeavors. I was growing tired of seeing the same frontpage and decided to do something about it. First off, let me all welcome you to SW:TOR, new and old members. It’s great to finally have a game to play together and so far I can say I’ve been having quite a bit of fun. It’s not a perfect game by any means, but I think it has the potential to become a lot more. For those who may or may not be aware, Mongbat is on the Juyo server, which is a US EAST PvE server. We are at about 10-15 players at level 50 I think? A fair amount, and some of us are gearing for Ops and Hard Modes. It’s quite exciting, even though I myself am not there yet. Judging from the progress our World of Warcraft division made in the game, I am interested to see what is going to come of it.

For now, we are still focusing on leveling our characters and gearing them out. Some of us have also been doing a fair amount of World PvP and Warzones, mostly for points but they’ve made a name for themselves. More than once I’ve heard of Mongbats gaining the MVP votes in their respective groups. It’s heartwarming to see that not only our community is fun and chatty, but also kinda knows what its doing! So join us, whether you’re interested in PvE or PvP, if you own Star Wars the Old Republic, you should give us a shout and we’ll be happy to run with you and quest or battle with some fools!

So what have you been doing? What do you want to talk about? Jump in the forums and let us know what you’ve been up to. Whether it’s creating builds for either PvP or PvE (we have a few of those somewhere) or doing some crazy stuff in Minecraft, or even some nifty poetry you’ve written, I’m sure other members would be interested to hear about it!

P.S: In other news, I have come across this little gem in the bathroom stall at my university. Those who follow me on Facebook or Twitter will have seen it already but I feel like sharing it to people!

These past months have been uneventful in the grand scheme of things, but we managed to have a good time here at Mongbat. We’ve been gathering some new recruits, some from our World of Warcraft division, but also other SW:TOR hopefuls. We’re looking forward to gaming with them and sharing great moments in those games. We’ve also got a little surprise in the works, but we’re not talking about it right now. Just make sure to check this here website for the rundown on how things went, when we launch this said surprise.

The crew on Dragonmaw in WoW is hard at work. We’ve done the new heroic dungeons that were released with patch 4.1 and are now looking to gather more members, or fill in some spots in larger groups, for raiding. I, myself, have not done any of the raids, but Absolute, Dukault, and Amobius have managed to get into groups. Props go to our own Mike (Slade, Elshaddai, depending on where you’ve seen him) for taking the role of tank in our latest runs. He’s been learning quite fast and we haven’t had any crazy trouble running dungeons.

As E3 comes along, we’ll have an overload of information here at Mongbat, whether it’s regarding SW:TOR (which I’m sure will be heavily supported by EA this year) or Nintendo’s new console, codenamed “Project Café”. As I’ve been doing for these past years, I will attend virtually the press conferences and will try to post news updates as they come, just to keep you guys entertained.

For now, that’s all I’ve got for Mongbat News, I’ll try to make this a more regular thing and don’t forget to comment if you have any ideas or suggestions (even complaints, but I might slap you with a trout)

Forum login system has been updated – if you already have a forum account please use the “Link to Existing Account” option. From then on your login should sync between the forums, shoutbox, chat, events, who’s online…

For this “Link to Existing Account” option appear you must first logoff and then login.

Also, permissions should work now so that you folks can easily add events. Just click the “+ Add an Event” link on the bottom left corner and input the information!

Few changes to the design, nothing drastic.

So… new website. Again.

It took quite a bit of work to pull it off in such a short time so I hope nothing is broken – if it is, post about it on the forums.
Speaking of which, I have yet to change the design of the forum area, it is mostly so that we can just move on and start to get used to a new system.
Again, let me reiterate that: Design is not final, merely a foundation from where to start. Website is looking nice, forums not so much. I’ll work on it.

You will notice a few different things.

Navigation Bar:

This is the Forum’s navigation bar. Dashboard is where information on profiles and boards (for moderators) is.

Latest Topics is a page where you can see topics by order of freshness. i.e. If I reply to a topic from last week, it is bumped up and tagged as having new, unread posts. Yes. Unread posts. #internaljoke

Activity includes who created a new account, if anyone got banned, etc…

Conversations are the equivalent of a Private Message – only that you can have one with more than one person. So I could simply start one with Spawno, add Slade and Jimmah to it.

Mark All Viewed will do precisely that – essentially clean any “new” tag from an unread post.

Note: You can see that there is a star on the right – this adds a topic to your watchlist. This helps in keeping a closer eye on certain topics while also adding them to your sidebar.

The Sidebar:

In the sidebar you will find the search box (just type whatever it is and click ‘Go’), the button to Start a New Topic and the list of all boards and their childs. You can start a topic in any board and put it in a different board.

The number on a board’s line is how many topics it has.

And that is pretty much about it.

We also have a nice editor to create the posts, spoiler tags seem to be borked, I’ll have to look into it but everything else *should* work fine.

I still have to change permissions but users will be able to add an event by clicking the “add event” link. Please use the website time just so people can easily see the difference in timezones and adjust to it. We comply to the Mongbat Clock, agreed?

That’s about it. Oh, and I’ll gonna release the .psd for the background so anyone here can make a different background, good ones might get included and be available as per user taste.

I simplified the menu for navigating the website. Now we have “Twitter”, “Forums”, “Chat” and “Events”. I want to add Teamspeak and other things but this will do for now.
