Which website did you download your installer from Giggles?
EDIT: And did you also have to turn down your sound quality? If so, how the fuck did you turn down your sound quality~!?

How to change sound quality:
Right click on "Speaker" symbol
Choose "playback devices"
Click the device of choice
Click "Properties"
Hit tab "Advanced"
Change the bitrate / khz rate thingy there and save.
That's how it is in vista anyway.

Unforunately I am using Windows XP. Thanks though.
Anyone know how to do this for Windows XP? It doesn't appear to be the same flow of operations.

Im running vista, so even if i knew how to change it, it wouldnt help you. I downloaded straight from mortal on the time that worked, from one of the mirrors the time it didnt.

Whats the concern with lowering the sound quality?

New trailer.
http://www.mortalonline.com/videos
(cant actually embed it ><)
It looks really cool, but the most interesting part is all of the footage of UNSEEN areas of the world. That means that the world (which is already pretty damn big) is gonna be a whole lot bigger. Also, some experiences with player housing. They are a bit glitchy, i managed to get inside of one because my horse bugged and when i demounted it teleported me inside of a house. Raided the house chest, destroyed what i couldnt take, and logged out inside of it. Can't wait to log in and re-raid their chest.

Asked a friend of mine what he had thought, and he wasn't able to even get into it either (for technical issues, much like what Duk has been going through).

THAT is so classic Giggles hahahaha NICE. Too bad you could not bank what you looted, if you pop in while people are in the house you may be in trouble. Still, freaking kick ass.

I did earlier. There were about 3 nakeds with their starter axes that tried to take me down, as well as one with a steel short sword, but i had potions, bandages, a full density iron bone set, and an incisium greataxe. Killed all of the nakeds with the axes and chased the steel sword guy out of the house, Would've ran him down too if my horse didnt bug : /, but since they all hit me first, i got no murdercounts! YAY!

And this is the begin difference between MO and DF. People with armor and swords will pwn you, especially if you are nekkid.

Giggles, we need to get in chat so I can get some pointers in starting, I am still running around newb style in some city, with only some items I looted from a guy that was killed by a guard lol.

You lasted longer than I did (that's what she said?)
10 minutes total, counting the time I took to create my character...

It's really hard to say - if I was reviewing it for say, Gamespot, I'd need to put 30 hours into the thing before trying to make calm, rational arguments as to why certain features worked, didn't work, etc.
It reminded me very much of
Jurassic Park: Tresspasser
if anyone remembers that one. This game might have potential, but it feels like it's getting kicked out the door far too early.
I can't really say much more than "I just didn't like it" having only spent some 15 odd minutes in the thing, but it just struck me as being very underwhelming, and extremely disappointing.

what did you do in the beginning dal? Go out and kill a few boars? Cause, thats what i did...and i was about to uninstall until a guy came up and tried to kill me. So i had my first PvP experience, and it was exhilirating. I really love the PvP, thats what does it for me.

This type of game is not for everyone, those that played the Original Pre-tramel UO will understand, others will log in, and find the wild west mentality a little too much. Games have always been a very controlled and "safe" environment, especially for MMO players, where the armor and sword and gold they carry are safe, and will always be there until discarded by choice.
In this game, where you can pickpocket from anyone, loot anything from anyone, and generally have a line in the sand where some are outright renegades, murderers and thieves while others go the other spectrum hunting those very renegades. Some of the best and memorable moments in UO were major battles that broke out, siege battles against another clans castle, it was very intense and there truly alot at stack. Should we get in their castle, then their base would literally belong to use, and should get get wiped out, then the good armor and weapons we brought would end up in the hands of those villains!
The game does still feel "early" there is more polishing to do, but man, I really see this as one I want to be part of, at least until Star Wars comes out.

Yeah, I mean mechanics-wise I'm sure it's fine, but I was really let down by the horrific lag, and the graphics didn't help either. My "PvP" was a guy coming up to me, zipping around wildly, then floating 20 feet in the air, all while hitting me. I tried to block and just hope that the guards would come and finish him (because he aggressed, not me) but he managed to kill me, and zipped away super quickly.
lol.
