Yeah. I'm much less worried about having to have a PVP and PVE spec.

Introducing the Codex -Similar to the mechanic of the same name in Dragon Age

One thing of particular note is:

The Datacrons Challenge... In-game datacrons will be a sub-set of the codex entries. The world builders had been kicking around the idea of these little world gizmos for a while now. These unique objects are placed throughout the world for the player to find, usually in hard to reach places. If you successfully reach one and interact with it, one of your stats will be increased -- permanently.

I apologize if this has been discussed or easily found - I'm short on time....

Will the space combat allow for use of a joystick? I loved Tie Fighter, X Wing, Wing Commander, etc..... wondering if it will be similar at all.

Also, I am leaning towards a Chiss Sniper, but not sure at the moment.

Didn't they say they've scrapped space combat? Or at least postponed it?

Maybe they just scrapped space PvP...I remember scrapping something about space...

As far as I know there has been no scrapping.  I don't believe they ever said there was going to be space PvP.  Space combat is 100% in the game, they even showed videos of it at PAX a couple of months ago.  Space combat is basically exactly like Star Fox (your companions will even give you advice "Do a barrel roll!").  I don't know if they've explicitly stated whether or not joysticks will be supported, but they certainly wont be necessary.

They HAVE mentioned that after launch, A LOT of the devs want to do more with space combat.

So here's to hoping for more content with it.

I just wish they would finally update the Inquisitor, that's the class I think the wife may like the best but she doesn't even want to look until there's more info.  :(

Oh, and also more race info.  If there are truly no Sith Twileks, then I'l never bring her to the dark side.

As per my afternoon tweetnasty, I have a very strong feeling that today's Facebook image of the Inquisitor bodes well for our chances of seeing them in action tomorrow, Aldric!

    Your wish has been granted.

Edit: I gotta say, I'm not in love with the Assassin high level armor on the class page.  I think the Sorc looks pretty cool, but the Assassin looks like the Man in the Iron Mask wearing a hoodie.

    New opening cinematic.

The article makes a good point. The trailers are so incredibly good how can the game possibly live up to them? It almost starts the game on a bad footing.

You know it won't. Expectations are funny like that. If you have any amount of imagination, I'm sure they're trailers have inspired wonderful visions of things... impossible to implement on a grand scale or in a game. To think that the trailers are supposed to represent actual gameplay is just false.

The trailers are introducing the theme, maybe the general atmosphere and trying to draw interest with fantastic spectacles. Nothing that you will do in the game will mirror the awesomeness of some scripted event that they pour hours into making a couple minutes.

I'll happily eat my words if this isn't true, happily.

Nah, actually I could not possibly disagree more. In my many years gaming, cinematics have never done anything but set that initial hook and immersion in whatever world it is. Cinematics have been a standard part of gaming ever since Prince of Persia in 1989 and Tie Fighter and Warcraft in 1994, if not before, but those are the first to immediately come to mind and they by no means sucked because they had kick-ass cinematics.

If someone honestly can't figure out that a cinematic is not the same as gameplay, then they have far more serious issues to deal with than complaining on gaming sites. And I don't for a moment believe that the writer would really say that if he actually thought about it for a minute, but people just like to complain online more than anything else methinks.

I'm not saying people will think the cinematics will be the same graphics as the game itself and I'm sure the article wasn't saying that either. By now people know this is rarely the case.

I'm really just saying the cinematics are so good it's going to be hard to live up to it. Which you have to do at least to a degree if you don't want to end up with an overhyped game.

People SHOULD know the difference. You'd be astounded how many don't.

To me cinematics =/= gameplay in any way, shape, or form. There is nothing to 'live up to'. Look at Warcraft 2 The Tides of Darkness. That opening cinematic trailer was pretty epic back in the day... and the game was awesome... neither had anything to do with each other. Look at the cinematic for for TIE Fighter... that cinematic wasn't very inspiring... it was OK... but the gameplay = BAMF.

To me, the cinematic is just to get you into the mindset and the mood of the game.. and that's it.
